“A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, a mysterious flash of energy was released into the universe.
Astronomers have now detected that flash – a burst of radio waves which travelled for more than 10bn years before reaching Earth – what they believe to be the most distant fast radio burst (FRB) ever recorded.”

“Data from the JWST indicated that the burst originated from a “young, very small galaxy which is forming stars at a very high speed, with not many metals around it”.
There are several theories as to what the source of FRBs is, including that they originate from magnetars, neutron stars with a very powerful magnetic field.”
“The village of Ruswarp takes its unusual name from the Old English hrīs wearp, recorded as Risewarp in the 12th century and thought to mean “silted land overgrown with brushwood”. Like much of the Esk Valley, Ruswarp's history has long been shaped by the River Esk running through it.”

““You can use them essentially as a line-of-sight count for how much matter they had to go through [to get to Earth].”

Use AI carefully, the ‘ghost stuff’ will be pulled… and all applications should be evidenced based, such as acoustic panels & VSO are not to be used to fill shortfalls.
Corporate Update: “Anglo & Teck are still waiting for Chinese approval for their $54 billion merger a year after announcing it…. but the regulator can stop the countdown while seeking information or considering remedies.” Competition regulatory approval was set for March 2027.
Meanwhile, subject to future conditions the Final investment Decision (FID) for Mitsubishi to take a 25% stake in ‘Woodsmith’ is subject to feasibility study, including construction optimisation & design of the final mine plan, granulation plants, product market portfolio and resource resilience, and is set to be completed end of 2027.
A new executive team overseeing the ‘Woodsmith’ through to completion has been retained by Anglo subject to the above.
Construction Update: Over 1000 people are employed on the ‘Woodsmith’ project, still considered to be under slow down, working Monday to Friday, daylight hours.
The Production Shaft is still where it was. The Service Shaft from 904 m is now sunk to 940 m, by the SBR and is halfway through the 250 m water bearing sandstone. Using grind, grout and tubbing to seal and reinforce shaft integrity. The shafts are built using concrete with steel segments and using chemical Avanti 160 to seal the gaps.
The refreshed Stella (TBM) has taken the (MTS) Tunnel to 30.8 km (19 miles) just short of the Esk, with it’s front shield digging along fresh ground, and Strabag probing at 15 m per week, no issues have been found. (MTS 23-mile (37 km) long… say half a marathon.)
Offsite borehole work continues, site prep completed at DH with drilling to commence in 2/3 weeks. Site prep started at PHF on the 12th (yesterday) with the purpose of increasing resource & geological knowledge to inform the mine plan and dictate in which direction to point the dinky toys.

Section 73 Application: An Environmental Impact Assessment and Ecological Survey was under rigorous review, with further information expected to be provided very soon to the Technical Consultants (WSP) to be followed by a recommendation by the Parkies in Feb/Mar 2027, Spring-time.
S106 & Core Policy D: Mitigations continue with contributions to Landscape & Ecology, Tourism, Monitoring. Geology, Archaeology and Employment support.
“The archaeological record consists of artifacts, architecture, biofacts or ecofacts, sites, and cultural landscapes. Archaeology can be considered both a social science and a branch of the humanities. It is usually considered an independent academic discipline.”
New trees have been planted next to the mine, it is up to private landowners to enable over 110 HA to be planted with trees in 2027, over 37141 trees (38 HA) were planted in 2026. The Dark Skies project is helping with 8 projects including Lastingham Village. Boundary enhancements have been created with 2940 m at 60% walls. Biodiversity work continues with farm advice workshops and new habitat creations. Historic Buildings use up a lot of money, and over 5.84 km of public rights of way have been protected. The Park is open to new ideas, Monks? Three projects are programmed in, Rosebury, Rosedale & the Cleveland Way with a new PHD program (Leeds Uni) focusing on ‘Trods & Routeways’ after the fires exposed olde travel routes across the Moors.
The Cumulative Impact is now in it’s 10th year and a report is to be presented by NYMP to showcase the mitigation measures and works it has achieved so far.
